In Squire In the magazine’s list of America’s 40 Best New Restaurants for 2021, only one Dallas-Fort Worth location made the list: Chef Tiffany Derry’s Roots Southern Table restaurant at Farmers Branch.
It is the same restaurant rented by the New York Times in October 2021 – the only location in the Dallas area on the NYTThe list of the “50 liveliest and most delicious restaurants in 2021”.
Those are two major accolades in two months, which is certainly good news for Derry, who has spent seven years making the restaurant a reality. She is proud that Roots shows the diversity of Southern cuisine.
Its restaurant is popular for its okra, cornbread, shrimp and grits and fried chicken. She said The morning news from Dallas in June 2021 that Southern cuisine is complex and personal – and that Roots is her ode to some of her family’s favorite dishes.
Squire seen this effort: âRoots is the striking proof that the black cuisine of the south of the Creole coast, incorporating as it does elements of French, Spanish, African and Caribbean traditions, alchemizing as it does forced migrations and others, is both the country’s greatest culinary heritage and its way to go, âthe article says.
Derry is a former Excellent chef competitor who was named a Fan Favorite in 2010.
We’ve said it before, we’ll say it again: make a reservation at Roots if you want a seat at one of the best new restaurants in the country.
