Gullah Geechee and Creole takeout spot LE Meals expanded with a second location this month. Chef Alexandria Hollowell opened her new location within the Wingman Kitchens Commissary Kitchen at Springdale General at 1023 Springdale Road, Building 1, Suite 1 beginning July 10. The menu remains the same, spanning dishes such as NOLA Shrimp and Grits, Gullah Brunch with Fried Catfish, to Okra Stew. There are take-out services, as well as first-time dining services. The Rouge River location, which opened in 2020, remains open for pickup orders. The new LE meal times are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Sexual harassment training for people in the service industry
Local nonprofit Good Work Austin partners with nonprofit SAFE Alliance and commissions ChowNow app to provide sexual harassment prevention training to owners, managers and industry workers Austin services. New York fast food chain Pokeworks is opening its third location in Austin. It is located at 3010 West Anderson Lane. There is no scheduled opening date yet.
Texas Cocktail Contest Winner
New York bartender Albert Pero III won the Garrison Brothers bourbon cocktail competition at the end of June. The bartender, who has his own Spirit for Spirits YouTube series, made BD4, a bourbon drink with vermouth, Earl Gray tea syrup, chocolate-cherry bark-vanilla bitters and cinnamon toppings. A cocktail kit of the winning drink is available on the distillery’s website.
