Michelin-starred SingleThread restaurant will close for at least a month after small fire

Fans of Kyle and Katina Connaughton’s three-star Michelin restaurant and wine farm, SingleThread, will be sad to hear the foodie destination suffered a major blow last week when a fire spread from the kitchen to the rooftop . Fans will be even sadder to learn that, although there were no injuries due to the small fire, the 37th best restaurant in the world will remain closed for at least the next month, according to social media posts. from the restaurant on Monday.

SoCoNews reports that the small vent fire started at the restaurant and farm in Healdsburg on Friday, February 19. Healdsburg Fire Chief Jason Boaz said SoCoNews Firefighters responded after multiple calls about smoke and fire on the roof of the building in the heart of downtown Healdsburg. While the fire was brought under control in about 10 minutes, the restaurant posted on Facebook and Instagram on February 28 to inform customers that they would remain closed through March – with no specific opening date in sight.

Eater SF has contacted SingleThread for comment but has not heard back at the time of publication.

The post goes on to explain that the restaurant’s exhaust system needs to be repaired, so no firm reopening date can be offered at this stage. Reservations for April, which would typically open March 1, will not be available online. SingleThread staff will be in touch with those who had reservations at the restaurant or inn during the month of March to process reservation fee refunds. The restaurant’s collaboration with New York’s Atomix restaurant is also postponed to a later date.

Hailed as the biggest restaurant opening of the year in 2016, Connaughton’s riff on Japanese cuisine with a Northern California sensibility quickly became a mainstay for travel guide writers and wine lovers, named One to Watch in 2016 by World’s 50 Best and making it into the World’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2018, where it has remained ever since.
