Search for burglars who broke into restaurants, stealing booze from Loop to Lincoln Park

CHICAGO (CBS) – Police on Monday asked for the public’s help in locating a group of burglars who broke into restaurants and stole alcohol in the city centre, River North, Gold Coast and Lincoln Park.

In each incident, the thieves smashed the glass of a side or back door of a restaurant and took away various bottles of alcohol.

The burglaries occurred at the following times and places:

• In the early hours of Wednesday, March 9, in the 0-99 block of Ontario Street East;

• In the evening on Friday, March 11, in the 100 block of West Randolph Street;

• In the early hours of Saturday, March 12, in the 100 block of West Adams Street;

• In the early hours of Monday, March 14, in the 800 block of North State Street;

• In the early hours of Friday, March 18, in the 0-99 block of East Grand Avenue;

• In the early hours of Sunday, March 27, in the 1600 block of North Halsted Street;

• In the wee hours of Sunday, March 27, in the 1000 block of West Armitage Avenue.

Police did not name any of the restaurants targeted.

A suspect has a tall, thin build and was wearing a face mask, black puffy coat and light-colored jeans.
