Some of the Bay Area’s hottest new restaurants will serve food at the Outside Lands music and arts festival in San Francisco this year, joining the biggest lineup of food the three-day summer event has ever had. Free.

The music festival returns to Golden Gate Park August 5-7 with 90 restaurants, 35 wineries and 30 breweries alongside headliners SZA, Green Day and Post Malone, organizers announced Tuesday, June 7.

Newcomers to the festival include popular East Bay Daytrip restaurants Wahpepah’s Kitchen and Jo’s Modern Thai, as well as San Francisco’s Quik Dog and pandemic pop-up Sandy’s, known for its New Orleans-style muffuletta sandwiches. Look for Daytrip’s pork butt sandwiches or parker’s homemade tempeh buns and Jo’s popular pork laab burger.

Native American restaurant Wahpepah’s Kitchen plans to serve kickapoo chili and fried bread tacos, while Pan-African soul food pop-up Bussdown, also new to the festival this year, will offer jerk chicken rice bowls and mac and cheese at the Shrimp Geechee.

For the first time, nonprofit La Cocina, which helps immigrants and people of color start food businesses in the Bay Area, is set to have its own booth at the festival where each day will feature a different supplier. MexiQ plans to serve smoked chicken sandwiches on Friday, Origen will have Oaxacan tlayudas on Saturday, and Noodle Girl is expected to bring bowls of rice noodles with blue pea flowers on Sunday.

Two Bay Area restaurants that are currently closed but still expected to show up at the festival: acclaimed Cambodian restaurant Nyum Bai, which recently moved out of its Fruitvale location, and San Francisco’s Lord Stanley. Lord Stanley, which has transformed into a rotating chef’s pop-up, plans to serve fish and chips.

Meanwhile, 73 restaurants are set to return to Outside Lands, from Richmond’s quesabirria hit El Garage (named one of the five best food to eat at the festival last year) to wood-fired pizza favorite Mozzeria .

Festival-goers who opt for more expensive VIP tickets can access different menu sets through Oakland’s new gourmet restaurant Hi Felicia and Ayesha Curry’s Sweet July, among other eateries.

The range of drinks is also one of the most exciting to date. Wine Lands, the festival’s wine-focused tent, plans to showcase 10 new wineries, including natural wine producers Es Okay and Eco Terreno. Look for drinks from Mommenpop, a popular Napa appetizer company.

And yes, rapper Post Malone’s rosé — a blend of Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah and Merlot — will be on offer, officials confirmed.

Beer lovers can also quench their thirst with a choice of several Northern California favorites, including Almanac Beer Co., Discretion Brewing and East Brother Beer Co., as well as breweries new to the festival this year, such as the popular Humble Sea Brewing Co of Santa Cruz. and Sonoma’s Golden State Cider.
